The Healthy dog
|
|
Is
your dog ill, or is he not ill? You have probably asked
you this question for a few times. To be sure if your dog
is ill, you have to know the basics of the healthy
position of your dog. The basics are different pro dog. The best thing you can do is making notes of the normal healthy position of your dog. The heartbeat of a dog The heartbeat of puppys or very jong dogs is vary in rest between 110 and 120 beats a minute. Grown up dogs have in rest a heartbeat of 90 to 100 beats a minute , while a older dog has a heartbeat of 70 till 80 beats a minute in rest. The heartbeat wil be higher with exert. Count during minimum 15 seconds the heartbeat and multiply this with 4. The best thing you can do is count a full minute, but with some dogs it will be difficult because they are very busy. You can count the heartbeat with the (point- and middlefinger, that you hold on the big artevery in the inside of the hint-leg, high on the leg, almoast on the place where the leg is turning into the body. This is not easy. The easiest method is to lay your hand on the left brest of your dog. You can with this method not feel the "strenght", of the power of the blood is pomping around. It is a bad sign if you don't feel the heartbeat throug the thy-bone artevery. It is important to know that the heartbeat from a dog is irregular! This is nothing for you to worry about. With a sik dog you feel allways a faster heartbeat. Breathings frequency As with the heartbeat the breathingfrequency can vary the heartbeat and the breathingfrequency (the number of the breathing in a minute) related to the age of the dog. A jong dog wil having 18 till 20 breathings a minute, a adult dog will having 16 till 18 breathings a minute. A dog will be breathing faster with exert. Normally the dog will breathe through his nose. When the dog is exciting, through the heat and the exert will the dog going to breath through his mouth. Hijgen in rest is mostly a sign that the dog is not feeling well. When you want to count how often the dog breaths, you count only the breathing in, or the breathing out, but not both ! The Temperature of a dog The normal temperature of a dog is vary between the 38 degrees Celcius and 39 degrees Celcius. The temperature has to be tempured always through the anus. If you use a quickthermometer you have to hold your dog very good. When the quickthermometer would breack the chance is high that the quick is coming on to your dog! The quickthermometer is standing 36 degrees Celsius. Before you start to (messure) , take care that the point from the thermometer has a little vaseline. Get the tail of your dog en pull this a little higher. Be carefull if you put the thermometer in the anus and hold the thermometer for 3 hole minutes. When you use a digital thermometer, mostly they give a signal when the temperature can be read. A digital thermometer is faster to read off and has a less risc. The temperature is high value of informations when your dog is ill. Has your dog fever, than messure your dog a few times a day.
